Sinal Arts Week

Art Direction · 2024

Signage that turns twelve venues into one route.

Sinal is a week of exhibitions, performances and open studios across twelve venues in the city centre. Visitors kept getting lost between venues, and many never made it past the first two.

Challenge

The signage had to be installed overnight, survive a week of rain and point people through streets the organisers did not control.

Approach

We designed a set of numbered fabric flags and pavement stencils, with one colour per route. A printed map and a lightweight web map use the same numbers.

Result

Visitors reached an average of five venues instead of two. The flags were reused the following year with only new dates added.
